The Everest climbing season for 2007 is well underway...and it is a busy one. Lots of expeditions and lots of goals being worked on. Sadly, the mountain has already claimed its first victim of the year, 40 year old Dawa Sherpa, who fell down the Lhotse Face between Camp II (Advanced Basecamp) and Camp III. You can read about the tragedy on The Adventurist Blog, at Alan Arnette's website, and on Everest News. My thoughts and condolences go out to Dawa's family, and to all the Sherpa who struggle so hard in the Himalaya each year. (Read my articles about the Sherpa here and here.)
And, for those of you who would like to follow the action on the mountain this spring - and read great articles on Everest and climbing or participate in discussions - I suggest you visit these great websites:

With Super Sherpas, Discovery, and lots of other expeditions and projects going on on the mountain, it should prove to be an interesting season!
